ROAR

                              Reach Out And Read

Community members share their love of reading with a Westfield Public Schools preK-grade 5 classroom during these community reading events. Volunteers read a newly published books to students in any one of eight elementary schools or the Early Childhood Center. ROAR is held twice a year - in the fall for preschool through grade 3 students and in the spring for grades 4 & 5. Volunteers, who have receive the book for their classroom ahead of time to preview it, spend about 30 minutes in the classroom introducing, reading and discussing the book.

ROAR books are selected by the school librarians and purchased through a grant from The Shurtleff Children's Services Inc.. They are donated to the school library.
