Kristin Carlson, owner of Peerless Precision, partnered with Westfield Intermediate School for an exciting Adopt a Classroom project! Peerless Precision is a small, 20-person shop that specializes in the manufacture of precision machined parts for the aerospace, defense, and medical devices industries, and it is located in Westfield! Kristin is passionate about supporting women in careers related to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Small groups of female students toured Kristin's shop to learn about manufacturing, and Kristin gave students insight into what it is like to be a female business owner in a male-dominated profession. Kristin will visit the classroom this month to talk more about her business and the role of Mathematics in her work. Adopt a Classroom, an initiative of Westfield Education to Business Alliance, helps students to make connections between what they are learning in the classroom to the world beyond.
