Dear Westfield Parents of Special Education students,

As we approach the holiday season, I would like to provide a special education update.

As we have relayed to families in the past, this year has been challenging in staffing shortages across the state. We have continued in our efforts to recruit and hire staff to meet the needs of students and continue to be proactive in how best to utilize our resources within the district.

Our related service providers, special education teachers, paraprofessionals, and supervisors collaborate regularly to ensure that your children’s needs are being met. IEP meetings and special education testing are moving forward on a consistent basis.

Should you have any questions or concerns regarding your child’s services or IEP, please contact the school building Evaluation Team Leader (ETL). Our Special Education Supervisors are also available to discuss any concerns you may have.

The next SEPAC meeting will be held on January 6th at 6:30 pm. This meeting will be held virtually. The topic will be “Mental Health and Anxiety Strategies” Zoom Meeting ID: 527 108 1333 Passcode: 3uht0R.

I would like to wish you all a wonderful holiday and a happy new year!

Best regards,

Deb Ecker
