One of the most important factors in student success is consistent, daily attendance. When students are in school every day, they benefit fully from classroom instruction, hands-on learning experiences, and the support of their teachers and peers. Every absence—whether excused or unexcused—represents a missed opportunity to learn and grow.
Research shows that students who attend regularly are more likely to achieve academically, graduate on time, and develop the habits that lead to lifelong success. Regular attendance also strengthens both academic and social connections, helping students feel more engaged in their school and community.
For these reasons, student attendance remains a top priority for our district. We are committed to partnering with families to remove barriers that may prevent consistent attendance. Together, we can ensure that every student has the best possible opportunity to thrive.
So far this school year, we are encouraged by the progress we’re seeing. Our chronic absenteeism rate—students absent for ten percent or more of the school year—has declined from 15.51% to 13.92%, a decrease of 1.59%. Our daily student attendance rate has also improved, rising from 94.06% to 94.64%, an increase of 0.58%. While these numbers show meaningful growth, we know there is still more work to do.
By making daily attendance a shared priority, we are not only supporting stronger academic outcomes—we are helping prepare our students for the responsibilities and opportunities that await them beyond graduation. Thank you for your continued support.
