It’s not every day a group of high school students get to showcase their talents alongside award-winning hall of famers.
Last Sunday, members of the Westfield High School show choir had the opportunity to do just that.
When the band Foreigner broke into the final number “I want to Know What Love Is,” during its Sept. 21 show at The Big E, the Westfield choir made their way center stage, signing backup for lead singer Kelly Hansen.
According to organizers, the three-time Grammy nominated band who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2024, has had a tradition of inviting a local choral group to join them on-stage. When John Lappen, the band’s promoter, went to Anne-Alise Pietruska of Mellowship Entertainment about continuing the ritual at the fair, Pietruska knew who to ask.
