FAFS & MAFSA NOW OPEN

The FAFSA and MASFA applications are officially open for students planning their post-secondary education. Learn about key deadlines, state aid opportunities, and free local resources to help fund your future.

As students begin planning their post-secondary education for the 2027–2028 school year, our district encourages all seniors and families to apply for financial aid. Filing early ensures access to federal grants, work-study programs, institutional scholarships, and state-funded tuition assistance.

Applying for financial aid does not lock a student into attending college; rather, it ensures that every viable financial pathway remains available when graduation arrives.

Choosing the Right Application
  • Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA): This is the standard federal gateway to grants, federal student loans, and work-study funds for higher education. Begin the application online at StudentAid.gov.

  • Massachusetts Application for State Financial Aid (MASFA): Under Massachusetts tuition equity provisions, eligible students who cannot complete the federal FAFSA may still qualify for state financial aid at Massachusetts public colleges and universities. Complete the state application at Mass.gov/MASFA.

Free Massachusetts Planning Resources
  1. Go Higher Massachusetts: Learn about affordable pathways across public higher education institutions in the Commonwealth, including tuition-free community college options and four-year degree programs, by visiting Mass.gov/GoHigher.

  2. Massachusetts Educational Financing Authority (MEFA): MEFA provides free statewide webinars, application walk-throughs, and guidance tools for students, educators, and families at mefa.org.

  3. Office of Student Financial Assistance (OSFA): The Commonwealth’s centralized hub for scholarship, grant, and application verification information: mass.edu/osfa.
