Team Huddle

Play ball! Those are two words that the purple and gold have likely waited to hear for quite some time now. On Thurs., May 6, the Westfield Technical Academy High School baseball team will be back on the diamond for the first time in nearly two years. Westfield Tech opens up the spring sports season, hoping to put past COVID-related fears to rest and smack one out of the local ballpark. The Tigers open up 2021 at Gateway Thursday at 4 p.m.

Meanwhile, on the same day, the Westfield Technical softball team hosts Amherst-Pelham at Whitney Park at 4 p.m. The Westfield Tech baseball and softball teams are each slated to play 12 games apiece this year with the regular season expected to wrap up on or around June 8 (depending on rainouts/makeup dates). Then, teams will have the option to play in an open Western Massachusetts tournament with regular season schedule record determining playoff seeds. A state tournament will also be held this year for sectional champs.
