Hello WTA Family!

It doesn’t seem possible, but we are getting ready to bid a fond “farewell” to the members of the Class of 2021, who will celebrate their graduation on Thursday, June 3. I know I speak on behalf of our entire faculty and staff when I wish all of them much happiness and success in all their future endeavors. We are enormously proud of them, and we will truly miss them!

In addition to graduation, June is the month during which our Ninth Graders complete MCAS Science Testing, this year on Tuesday, June 1, and Wednesday, June 2, with make-ups scheduled for the following week. Testing will begin promptly at 7:30 each morning.  On June 1 and 2, Grades 10 and 11 will observe a two (2) hour delay schedule.  Students who need to take the bus will be held in the cafeteria or the gymnasium with appropriate social distancing until the end of the testing session each morning.

While none of us want our Ninth Graders to become overly anxious about testing, it is still extremely important to remind them that successful completion of the MCAS is, in fact, a graduation requirement in Massachusetts. You can help us ensure your children’s success by making sure they

  • Come to school on time each day of the testing window;
  • Get at least eight hours of sleep each night;
  • Eat a nourishing breakfast each morning;
  • And—most importantly—know you believe they can and will do their best on the test.
If you have any questions and/or concerns about this year’s MCAS Testing, please don’t hesitate to call me at (413) 572-6533 or email me at j.langone@schoolsofwestfield.org.

In closing, I wish you all a happy, healthy, and safe summer, and, as always, please know how grateful I am for all that you do on behalf of WTA!

Regards,

Joe Langone
