The last day of school is on Monday, June 17. It is also an early release day. High school students will be dismissed at 11:00 a.m., Middle and Intermediate School students at 11:30 a.m., and Elementary School students at 12:15 p.m. Thank you.

Thus far this postseason, the only team that truly has been able to beat the Westfield High School boys volleyball team is the Bombers themselves. No. 1 Westfield dominated No. 5 Longmeadow in nearly every fashion, save for a few moments of mental fatigue, en route to a three-set sweep in the Division 2 boys volleyball state semifinals Monday night at Chicopee Comprehensive High School. It’s the little things that again made all the difference for the Westfield High School baseball team. From pickoffs to throw downs to timely hits, all of the X-factors added up to one big Bombers’ victory. Westfield junior pitcher Shea Hurley recorded 13 strikeouts in tossing a 3-hitter en route to a 5-1 win over No. 21 Notre Dame (Hingham) in the Division 2 softball state quarterfinals Sunday at home. Grace Leduc went 4-for-4 with a run to lead No. 4 Westfield (19-3), which racked up 11 hits against Notre Dame (13-8). Westfield High School added a new element to its graduation ceremonies this year. For a moment, it seemed like Saturday’s Division II quarterfinals matchup between No. 1 Westfield boys volleyball and No. 8 West Springfield would need a fifth set to declare a winner. Undeterred by the deadlock in the fourth set, Michael Zubik’s two-handed kill momentarily secured a three-point lead for the Terriers. Wunnyuriti Ziblim will be honored as the valedictorian when Westfield High School graduates its 2024 class tonight. Westfield’s trek through the Division 2 boys volleyball state tournament took a turn toward Western Mass as the top-seeded Bombers welcomed No. 16 Ludlow to the Whip City. It was a short stay. No. 1 Westfield swept 16th seeded Ludlow, 25-21, 25-14, 25-15, in the Round of 16 late Wednesday night to keep their championship hopes alive. WHS graduates toured their elementary school as they prepare to head out into the world! Congratulations class of 2024!

The Westfield High School softball team mustered up just three hits through five innings to Leominster’s seven in a state tournament game, but it’s what came after that mattered most. The Westfield High School baseball team is now one win away from earning a trip to the Final Four. Although Westfield is fresh off a PVIAC Class A softball championship, the Bombers appear to be in a rush for that next step this postseason. 5th grade students at Westfield Intermediate School recently completed a Project Lead the Way module on Earth’s Water and Interconnected Systems. As a culminating project, students were tasked with designing a water filter prototype to turn dirty water clean. Students showcased their filters to local industry professionals and WHS AP Environmental Science students on Wednesday morning. Students not only demonstrated how their filters worked with dirty water, but also discussed the importance of collaboration and the design process. Volunteers provided written feedback for students on presentation skills and how well they met the criteria and constraints of the engineering challenge. Special thank you to the amazing grade 5 STEM Teachers, Mr. Tyler and his AP Environmental Science students, Westfield Water Department, Springfield Water Department, City Engineer Allison McMordie, Retired Science Teacher Lisa Strycharz, School Committee member Kathleen Hillman, Kristen Mello from WRAFT, Cambrex, and Polish National Credit Union.

Order has been restored in the high school baseball world in Western Massachusetts. The Westfield Bombers are Western Massachusetts champions once more. The Westfield girl's tennis team won two singles matches and a doubles match to slip past St. Mary’s 3-2 in a crosstown battle May 22 at Stanley Park. Kaitlyn Goulette won a hard-fought two-setter, defeating St. Mary’s Jessica Armstrong at second singles.
