SEPAC (Special Education Parent Advisory Council) is currently accepting nominations of educators and support personnel who go the extra mile to serve the Westfield District Schools’ special education community and inspire others to do the same.
The Recognition of Excellence in Supporting Special Education is an important way for the community to thank those who through dedication, creativity, patience, and determination help students receiving special education to experience success.
The WHS Band will present their 70th Anniversary Pops Concert in the WHS Gym on Friday, March 10 and Saturday, March 11 at 7 PM. General admission tickets are $10 and student tickets are only $5. Come out and enjoy some great music performed by the WHS Band, Jazz Band, Jazz Combo and–this year–the Alumni Band, featuring band members from the Class of 1959 right through last year's graduates! It will truly be a night to remember!!
The Pops Concert began in the spring of 1953 in the cafeteria of Highland School and featured 40 performers. It grew each year and was presented in various venues around Westfield. When the new Westfield High School opened on Montgomery Road in 1973, the Pops Concert moved to the WHS Gym and has been performed there nearly every year since. In 2021, due to Covid restrictions, we performed in the back parking lot during the day to allow for social distancing on both the band stand and in the audience. It certainly is great to be back indoors in our gym. There will be 3 band stages with professional lighting and sound and the music performed will include songs by a multitude of platinum recording artists. The 70th Anniversary is the Platinum Anniversary, so this is the perfect time to perform music by Elvis, The Beatles, Elton John, Journey and many more.

High School Science and Engineering Fair organizers have announced the students and their projects that qualified to enter the Region I Science Fair on March 10 at Western New England University.
Top projects included first place winner, Luke Bulan’s project, “Investing in a Cheap and Comfortable Yet Effective Phototherapy Blanket For Babies.”

For the first time in three years, Into the Arts is BACK!
We are excited to share that this celebration of all the arts in Westfield Public Schools will return this April 28th and 29th!
Five veteran teachers and one teacher new to the profession were named 2023 Pioneer Valley Excellence in Teaching Award winners in Westfield this week. Superintendent Stefan Czaporowski surprised the winners at their schools on Feb. 7.
Winners have demonstrated exemplary teaching practices and have had a strong impact on their students; they’ve inspired and motivated others, engaged their students’ families, and gone above and beyond in the classroom and school community.
