Superintendent Stefan Czaporowski recently announced that the state Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has approved adding two new career-technical education programs in Westfield, criminal justice at Westfield High School and cabinetmaking at Westfield Technical Academy.
“We’re pretty excited that these got approved,” Czaporowski said referring to the letter from the state he received on June 30.
The process requires that programs meet the criteria in Chapter 74 of state law and DESE’s Vocational Technical Education Regulations, which include demonstration of the labor market and student demand for the program.
